Well kids, we're 2 for 2 for the Labour Day long weekend. As with last year, we once again had fantastic weather for the WHOLE weekend! And we sure have deserved it this season, eh? With the sunny, warm & wind calm days we've been experiencing over the past four weeks it is just NOW starting to feel like the beginning of summer - and they start hauling the boats at our marina in less than four weeks :-(
The '2nd Annual Doc Crocs Corn Roast Pot Luck Dinner And Fireside Frivolity'
(I really have to come up with shorter names for these things) happens on the 19th of this month (2 weekends from now). For those of you that will be visiting from out of town ports, don't forget the folding chairs for the 'fireside frivolity' part of the evening . . .
On with the photos and video portion of today's installment
And remember to CLICK ON THE PICTURES to see them in all their glory
Wevvy & Rich find their way into Lagoon City for the very first time. First time visiting by boat, that is - it's not like they were lost another time or anything like that;
But the trip must have been pretty grueling for poor Wevvy - he cracked open a BEER as soon as he got there on Friday. Could it have been the ride across the lake? The faulty shore power cable? The fact that he had to dock only two boats from me?
A nice shot of our slips - from dinghy height. I'll let you figure that one out;
Robert & the 'Big Dick' share a laugh with Steven J.;
Ok, so it was a little cloudy on Sunday - but everyone still was having a good time. Steve was smiling on the inside;
Edith, Rick, Cathy & Robert made it through another weekend's invasion from the 'Keswick Krew'! It must have been Diane's soothing voice;
Lookin' pretty comfy in the retirement there, David;
The Parker Family Singers hit the road for their next sold out engagement;
Finally, here's some words of enlightenment from Mr. Parker;
Three Weeks?? Man, that went FAST!
We're all back, safe & sound from the big three weeks trip up to The Bay. Our round trip (including an 'emergency plumbing repair trip' to Parry Sound) was comprised of 350 miles of travel, 9 nights at dock, 13 nights at anchor and 11 bottles of propane for the BBQ.
For those of who aren't sick of hearing about it by now, I'll do my best to put you over the edge :-) With something like 2000 photos and hours of video, we're gonna have some fun seeing it over and over in the coming months. Oh Joy!
A few quick ones for today.
First one is from our anchorage, tied up to Rattlesnake Rock. The 'Maple Leaf', 'Boogaboo', 'Water Wings' & 'SunAria' all snuggled up for an evening of good times & Jackson Browne;
Isn't this a cool picture?? We took this one at the north arm of the north bay of Echo Bay. Yes, that does all make sense if you are familiar with this spot. Just enough room for the dinkies to get through - and crystal clear water;
Group shot!
This is park ranger Tanner dropping by for his daily look see. As part of the service provided in the Massasauga Provincial Park, these guys actually deliver beer right to your boat! It may not be as fun as firing up one of the anchored boats and navigating through the treacherous, rocky, windy, wavy waters all the way over to Henry's and having to stop on the way back to find out where we were ;-)
Just for fun and to make sure everyone - including me - was paying real close attention to where they were going, we ran into some really thick fog. So thick in fact, that one dummy actually ended up turning his boat 180 degrees and not even knowing it until it cleared enough to see again. Hmmmm, that same dummy has taken measures to make sure that doesn't happen again! At least this year, said dummy didn't get messed up again by that darned bifurcation buoy on the way to Parry Sound . . .
Today's Georgian Bay video, taken at Honey Harbour;
We returned safely from our trip to Deep Bay for the Canada Day long weekend - without spending more than about 15 minutes there.
What??
After a slight change in the itinerary, we ended up traveling well past the Deep Bay and finding a wonderful spot just off the Severn River called Lost Channel.
I took this shot from high atop Blackfly Mountain. A.G. & me hiked all the way to the top to get this spectacular photo, braving the potential of Massasauga Rattlers and, of course, black flies. Looks allot like The Bay, eh?
Here's the '3-Rays' at anchor right next to Blackfly Mountain;
A tight fit through a beautiful channel;
Here's a quick video of us heading into our anchorage through the narrow passages that protect (& hide) this pretty spot;
Still waiting for that thing called summer to show itself.
Waiting.
In the meantime, we've been keeping busy (and warm) at The Cottage by running back to our boats for another sweater, or coat or just to make sure the heater was on! Oh well, despite the sometimes frigid temps, I've had a really good time so far this season. And I'm becoming somewhat of an expert at installing electronics and programming MMSI numbers. . .
Of course, we may need another load of firewood before too long, since some 'troublemaker' we know insists on making the fires every night - even in the rain :-)
Apart form battling the cold & rain, we have actually been able to get out on the water - even if only on the dinghies;
Poor Anchor Girl hasn't even been able to work on her suntan;
We met up with Water Wings a couple of weeks ago. This was our second time out on the lake this year and we actually spent a couple or three hours on the water, cruising slowly around Thorah Island;
Check this out. This is made up from two photos that I put together for a panoramic effect. . . . (There goes the firewood);
Myself doing a speed run on Boogaboo Tender. The new radios me & Graham (Graham! Graham! Graham!) got have built in GPS(s) so we can track our speed. I've gotten my little boat up to a blistering SIXTEEN MPH! Cool;
