We took a drive up to the boat yesterday (Saturday) and were happy & surprised to see many areas of open water throughout Lagoon City, including under all of the road bridges.
The most dramatic was in the main channel that comes off of Lake Simcoe. And yes, those temporary buoys are still in the main channel. I have emailed the municipality to see if I could find out when they might be removed.
Despite the insanely high winds when we were wandering around, it sure was nice to once again see open water! Especially this early in the season. This is 2-3 weeks ahead of the normal time that the ice starts to open up.
